N Microsoft Community. Hi, I have a Lexmark X5340 that was originally for XP or Vista, and I was able to get it to work. Everything except the printing status window. That even works if I upgrade directly from Win 7 to Win 10.
I have to reinstall the printer everytime I do a upgrade. There is a bit of a trick to it though, or you just keep getting the same error. 1) Turn on and hook up your printer. This needs to be done just this one time to get it to show up in Devices and Printers. 2) Once the printer is visible in Devices and Printers, unhook it. 3) 'REMOVE' the Lexmark Printer and Lexmark Fax (if you have one) in Devices and Printers.
